Nisperos, an accomplished registered professional nurse of excellence and style with Masters Degree in Nursing, has excelled based on her professionalism, intelligence, untiring, and creative leadership in management, administration, teaching, research, health and staff education, and as clinician in a wide range of nursing practice. This also includes her community, civic and Couples for Christ organization leadership. In her numerous leadership roles in the Philippine Nurses Association of America, Inc. (National, Regional and Local) she contributed greatly to the success of these organizations for many years.

Mrs. Nisperos earned her Diploma in Nursing, Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing from Far Eastern University College Of Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing (High Honors) at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, one year Certificate Program in Public Administration, University of Illinois at Chicago, and one year Certificate Program, Leadership Development Institute by the VA Employee Education System.

Mrs. Nisperos has served in the National Level of the Philippine Nurses Association of America, Inc. (PNAA) in various leadership positions for many years. She was Chairperson in several PNAA Committees, elected PNAA Board of Director for three terms and in 2012, she was elected as the PNAA Regional Vice President, Western Region to serve for 2 years. In this role she was Chief Operating Officer ( COO) of 11 PNAA Chapters and 2 PNAA Sub- Chapters and was focused on a theme, “Believe in Caring: Sustaining Excellence in Health Care through Strategic and Synergistic Collaboration.” This was successfully executed and even exceeded set goals with team effort. For this period, she served as the Overall Co- Chairperson of the PNAA 35th National Convention in July 2014 hosted by PNA Nevada. She was also the Overall Chairperson of the PNAA 22nd National Convention on July 2001 and for the first time hosted by PNA-Illinois as well as two PNAA Regional Conferences again hosted by PNAIllinois and PNA-Central California. All these conventions and conferences as Overall Chairperson were very successful. She was elected in 2000 as PNAA Circle of Presidents Forum Leader before it was changed to four regions and in 2011-2012 was elected and served in the same role in PNAA Western Region. She was President in 2 PNAA Chapters, PNA-Illinois for 4 years and 2 Years in PNA-Central California. She successfully led these 2 PNAA Chapters and moved it forward through Strategic Planning and their Constitution and By-Laws amended and ratified to meet changing times. She was speaker in variety of educational topics and was in the Editorial Board of PNAA – Journal (JNPARR). She led her team in collaborating with other nursing groups on Foreign Nurse issues such as work, immigration, and licensure. This resulted at that time to meeting with the Philippine. Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) Director in the Philippines to discuss work related issues and recommendations for resolution. She participated in Medical Mission in the Philippines, in the Province of La Union.

Mrs. Nisperos held positions in the Clinical, Leadership, Education, and Management at the VA Central California Health Care System/Fresno with national impact. As Education and Training Coordinator and Nurse Educator, she had responsibility of overall management and coordination of Nursing Education in the Nursing Service. At VA Chicago Health Care System. She served as Coordinator of the Surgical Section, Nurse Manager in the Medical Intensive Care Unit, and Overall management as Coordinator of the Preventive Medicine and Health Education, facility wide with impact on national level. She served as instructor for the VA National Program on, “Patient Health Education: Teach for Success.” She taught in Nursing Schools and Colleges in US and Canada She was the Asian -Pacific Program Manager as a collateral role in the VA in Chicago for 10 years and focused on employment issues, advancement opportunities and coordinated cultural programs.

Lourdes Nisperos is a recipient of numerous awards & accolades and to name a few: Inducted in the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, one of the 20 Most Outstanding Filipino- American in US by Fil. – AM Image given in Washington, D.C. Nominated by the VA Chicago Health Care System Director for an Outstanding Award to the National Association of Professional Asian American Women in Washington D.C. In April 2015 at the PNAA North Central Regional Conference held in Chicago, PNA-Illinois (PNAI) presented her a beautiful Nurse Replica Award with inscription, “2015 Lifetime Achievement Award with Distinction in Recognition of her Excellence in Leadership, Resilience and Dedicated Service. “

She is married to Dr. Arturo G. Nisperos, a geologist and past HOFA Awardee in Science and Technology and they are blessed with 3 Sons, two married and 5 grandchildren.
