Consul General Generoso DG Calonge VIA Man of the year 2016

calongeConsul General Generoso D.G. Calonge Consul General Calonge is a career diplomat whose career in the Foreign Service spans more than three decades. He has served in Philippine diplomatic missions in Tel Aviv, Washington DC, Moscow, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Saipan in various capacities, as well as in the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Office of the Undersecretary for Policy, Office of the Undersecretary for International Economic Relations, Office of the Undersecretary for Special Concerns, Office of Legal Affairs. Office of Intelligence and Security Services, Office of Middle East and African Affairs and Office of Asia and Pacific Affairs. Consul General Calonge was Ambassador to Israel for three years before his assignment to Chicago in the summer of 2014. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of the Philippines in 1976, completed his degree in Law, also from the University of the Philippines, in 1985, and then moved on to finish his Masters of Laws from Harvard Law School in 1988. Consul General Calonge also attended the Officer Cadet School of the Australian Army as a Military Science student from 1978-1979 under the Philippine-Australia Defense Cooperation Program. He served as an officer in the Philippine Army for six years before joining the Foreign Service. His uniformed service included duty with the Scout Rangers, where he was number one in his class, in various parts of Mindanao: Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Basilan and Lanao del Norte.
