Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas hosting a celebration to commemorate the Asian-Pacific Heritage Month

Dear editor,

My name is Vanessa Huerta and I am reaching out to you on the behalf of the Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas’s Office.

On Friday May 10th at 12:00pm, Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas will be hosting a celebration with the Asian American community and business leaders within the Chicago area to commemorate the Asian-Pacific Heritage Month. We would be honored to have you join us on this occasion to strengthen ties between the Chicago Asian American community and Treasurer Pappas.

Please notify either myself or my supervisor, Manuel Venegas (MVenegas@cookcountytreasurer. com), Director of Outreach and Media Relations, if you plan on attending and if you are bringing any guests with you. If you intend on bringing guests, we would greatly appreciate if you could provide us the following information for each of your guest; name, contact information, and corresponding title.

Thank you, and we hope to hear back from you soon regarding your invitation to our Asian-Pacific Heritage Month celebration. We would be honored to have you and any guests you wish to bring.

Respectfully,

Vanessa Huerta

Dear Editor:

It was a honor to be one of the five female panelists representing the non-profit sector and the Asian American community at the global public relations and marketing consultancy firm Edelman’s Global Women’s Equality Network (GWEN)’s Women’s History Month panel event last month. Fellow panelists included Alicia Driskill, CEO of EvolveHer; Allison Cirullo, general manager of brand at Edelman; Maria Hadden, recently elected Chicago 49th Ward Alderwoman; and Susana Homan, Chicago Magazine’s editor-in-chief and publisher. A big THANK YOU to Anica Malabanan and GWEN for inviting me to be part of this special and motivating panel discussion! Thank you/salamat!

I’m also very grateful to columnist Ryan Tejero of the VIA TIMES newsmagazine, a monthly publication which provides news for the Asian American community in Chicago and the Midwest, for featuring me and the Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club’s services and programs for at-risk children and teenagers, including those from economical challenging families and underserved communities. A big THANK YOU to Ryan Tejero and the VIA TIMES founder Venus Veronica Bacatan Leighton for including me in the February news publication! Thank you salamat!

Director, Neighborhood Boys & Girls Club
