Last time I saw an issue was Spring 1994. Fast Forward 28 years later, and I’m on the cover,

If my parents still had that small business, I’m sure it would be pretty weird for them to be delivering this issue to distribute.

All I know is that I’m going to walk into Seafood City, China Chef (where they usually have some) and the local moms and pops to see if I can get some free Filipino food.

Ukrainian Fundraising by Filipinos4Ukraine

Dear Veronica and Via Times Staff, This is Jason Dela Cruz. How are you all? I have a last-minute fundraiser for Ukraine and the refugees coming here to Chicago. We are our fundraiser Filipinos4Ukraine, this Saturday.

I have Filipino local bands and singers who are volunteering to play. We just want to help coming from the Filipino community of younger musicians. In fact, I have a Filipino artist who came from LA, he’s the oldest son of Pops Fernandez and Martin Nievera. His name is Robin Nievera, but wants to be known as Nievera only. Trying to get away from the family name of Pops and Martin. He sings and plays the electric and acoustic guitar, so good, too. I will like to invite the VT staff to our fundraiser, maybe cover our story.

100% goes to Ukraine and we can give you the information where it’s going to go. It’s actually a Ukrainian church and school in Chicago. Sorry about my writing I had a massive stroke in 2014 which I survived. That’s why I’m doing things like this to thank God.
