Minnesota parents’ views differ from majority of other U.S. parents

Global homework help platform Brainly, which is the largest global online learning community with 250 million monthly users, surveyed 1,600 U.S. parents of school-age children (grades 1-12) to gain insight into their sentiments regarding how school districts should handle the upcoming school year.

There were some major disparities between Minnesota parents’ views compared to other U.S parents when the data is compared to the Minnesota Department of Education’s recent survey. Here are just two highlights:

Nationwide, 60% of U.S. parents do NOT think schools should re-open for in-person learning in the Fall. In contrast, about 64% of Minnesota parents said they’d feel comfortable sending their students into school buildings this fall, while 11% said they were uncomfortable and 24% said they were unsure.

The vast majority of Minnesota parents (more than 94%) said they’d prefer to have their students attend school full time if schools reopened. Nationwide, only 36% of U.S. parents said they prefer all 5 school days to take place in the classroom if schools reopen, while 36% said they prefer their children to receive 0 days of in-classroom instruction (with all 5 days taking place online from home). At the same time, 26% said they prefer their children to be in school 3 days a week (with 2 days of online instruction) and 14% said they prefer 2 days a week in-classroom (with 3 days of home learning).
