Coming up to serve on 2017 as UPAAGC President is Jennifer Jacobsen. She will continue to raise the bars of excitement within the organization, and keep the flames of achieving more for the University of the Philippines, its alumni and the Filipino community.

Already in the pipeline for 2017 are the following projects: (1) Bangon Para sa FC (UP Diliman Faculty Center), a project intended to support in the rebuilding of the Faculty Center/Bulwagang Rizal, which was decimated by fire early this year. UPAAGC will work on contributing in the reconstruction efforts that may include restoring FC infrastructure, and replacement of furniture, equipment and books; (2) Feeding America (Northern Illinois Food Bank), this is an opportunity for UP alumni to volunteer to a Food Bank, where nearly 600,000 people each year in our 13-county service rely for food distribution, and a total of 800 in-network partner food pantries feeding programs. More specifically, UP alumni will help in the much-needed work of sorting and stacking food at Northern Illinois Food Bank, and another proposed project is to hold a 5K that would cater to individuals and family enthusiasts.

UPAAGC will continue its regular annual events which are the Summer Picnic, the Golf Outing Fundraiser and the December Dinner Dance and Induction Ball.

UPAAGC’s mission is to build a group of dedicated UP alumni that will promote, support, and further elevate the quality education at the University, enhance the cultural, scientific, and educational endeavors of the Filipino community, generate and develop appreciation of concerns directly affecting the University and the Filipino community, through collaboration and networking of alumni, former students and friends inspired by a keen sense of civic spirit and loyalty to the Alma Mater.

More specifically, UPAAGC operates to organize, support and promote various fundraising events for the benefit of the University of the Philippines. It seeks to foster and encourage networking events for alumni and former students of the University in the Chicago metropolitan area. It also works on enhancing awareness and appreciation of Filipino culture among alumni, former students of the University and the community-at-large.

UPAAGC recently held its Induction Ball for the 2017 Officers and the New Board of Directors. This was held in Meridian Banquets on December 3, 2016. The following officers were elected and inducted: Jennifer Jacobsen (President); Sheila Estor (President-Elect 2018); Ryan Tejero (Secretary); Mildred Alayan (Treasurer); Leo Madanguit (Bookkeeping Support); Gigi Jover-Ledesma (Auditor).
