Filipino American Community in Chicago Got Together to Plan Community Wide Christmas Event and Simban Gabi at Seafood City

For three months now, the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago in collaboration with several Fil-Am organizations in Chicago and Illinois have been meeting regularly at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Consulate to plan the upcoming first-ever Fil-Am community event, called “Paskuhan sa Chicago” 2018 on 15 December 2018 to be held at the Market Mix in Sea Food City in Chicago.

Composed of about twenty (20) community organizations represented by their respective Presidents or leaders, the organizing committee is chaired by the Philippine Consulate with the Philippine American Cultural Foundation (PACF) as vice-chair and other organizations as committee chairmen. The planning committee have met three times after the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago conceptualized the project and issued the invitations for the Filipino community leaders in Chicago and Illinois to attend the first and second planning meetings on October 19 and 29, respectively to commence the planning process.

“Paskuhan sa Chicago” 2019 will bring together community leaders and members to celebrate Christmas with fun and entertainment capped with the traditional “simbang gabi” on December 15, marking the start of the nine-day Christmas eve masses or “misa de gallo”.

The planning committee hopes that this upcoming event will become an annual event in partnership between the Philippine Consulate and the Filipino community. END
