Welcome to this new column here on Via Times! I am so privileged for this opportunity to work with people whose service to the community is so inspiring and selfl ess. So, since this is my fi rst article, let me introduce you to what this column is all about. As everyone knows, I just started college this Fall 2019, and I am so excited to start this very chapter of my life. Many young Filipino Americans like me have so much to say about their aspirations in life. They want to speak their minds about what they want to achieve or become in the future. So there it is, that is what my column is all about. Please check me out every month here in Via Times. I will be featuring young Filipino Americans who are in college and you will learn about their biggest dreams in life. Please email me your feedback or if you want to be part of my column: tejerokayla@gmail.com. Thanks everyone!

Hannah Alayan says: “I’d like to make my parents proud. After graduation, I plan to returning to graduate school so I can advance to higher positions in my career. I also want to give back to my community, help my struggling family in the Philippines, and help them achieve a better life.”

Marissa Laqui says: “I want to be able to find enjoyment in the career path. I feel as though many Filipino American students, especially with parents who are traditional in values, choose a career path that pleases past generations rather than uphold who they really are as a person.”

Zeke Amposta says: “A long term objective of mine as a Filipino American college student is to give a good representation of my culture and people. I intend on carrying my pride and revealing that through good work, ethic and service to the community.”

Bella Fadullon says: “Aside from graduating in college, I’d love to accomplish building relationships with as many people as I can, and sharing my culture with them. I’d like also to be creatively active with photography, videography and in music.”

We would like to welcome our newest VT columnist, Kayla Tejero. She has a new column, YFA on Campus that debuts this month. Kayla will be the voice of young college Filipino Americans in expressing their dreams and ambitions in life. We are so happy to have a multi-awarded young singer, and now a columnist-writer. Welcome to our VT and CPRTV family, Kayla!
