SCOTT ESCALERA Declared as K3 City Champion in Chess!!!

SCOTT ESCALERA, of Oak Park, Illinois, a 1st Grader of Oliver Wendell Holmes School, and the multi-awarded chess whiz kid has a good start in the year 2020 as he celebrate his 2nd anniversary milestone as rated chess player after collecting more than 150 trophies and awards, including major titles in the last 24 months.

Meanwhile, the 2020 Greater Chicago K-12 Championship is the Chicago’s Official Scholastic Championship wherein the top individual and team, in each championship sections, from Chicago are recognized as the City Champion.

Remarkably, this event was where Scott had his first tournament, where he showed a significant jump of success for his chess journey.

Now, in this 2020 event held on February 1st at McCormick Place, he finally secured K3 Championship title, as he remains undefeated after beating Franklin Godinho of Roycemore School of Evanston, Illinois in the final round match, ensuing as a clear winner on his section.

Also, based on records, this tournament is considered as the largest and most prestigious USCF rated tournament in Chicago as it was well attended by Chicago Public Schools, Suburbs Areas and Midwest region, with a total of 704 participants in all sections.

For this year alone, Scott had already accomplished a tied to 2nd place in the 2020 National Junior Chess Congress held in Santa Clara, California, also crowned as 2020 Illinois All Catholic School Champion in 5th grade category held in Lemont, Illinois, and easily snatched a 1st place in the advance section of Taft High School Chess Invitational 2020 in Chicago.

Lastly, Scott is the most active dual rated player in the whole State of Illinois. He played 423 rated rounds in the past few months, and a two-time State Champion on his category. He dedicated himself as promising young talent in the field of mind sports which we call Chess and enjoy at the same time as a kid.
