David Alvin Barnaby April 8, 1936 – Dec. 23, 2021

David Alvin Barnaby aged 85, of Burbank, IL, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021. David was a dedicated family man, proud of his children and grandchildren. In his heart, he had two homes; his childhood home in Grand Rapids, MI and in the Chicagoland area where he raised his family. David enjoyed bicycling, running, bowling, tennis, boxing, archery, shooting, and scuba diving. He loved all animals, camping with his family, and gardening and roto tilling. The farming in his blood gave him a love of the earth and the crops that it grew. David also loved his atomic clock and laser discs. He was a hardworking man, proud of his trade. David was a pressman at Merrill Printing in Hinsdale and Sun Printing in Naperville. When he semi-retired, he worked in the butcher shop at Jewel Grocery in Bolingbrook. He retired on the land his father farmed in Byron Center, MI.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Visitation Carmella (Salva) Barnaby; children, Julie Anne (Walter) Berkowicz, David F. Barnaby, Lisa M. (Richard Klootwyk) Barnaby; grandchildren, Walter A. Berkowicz III, Paul M. Berkowicz, Marc A. Berkowicz; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorraine and Mildred (Townsend) Barnaby; brothers, Eugene (Ellen) Barnaby, James (Bonnie) Barnaby; sisters, Birdice (Alex) Morel, Mary (Robert) Cook, and Betty (Gene) Allen.
