THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE PHILIPPINES IN CHICAGO CELEBRATES MABINI’S 150TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY

24 July 2014 – The Consulate General of the Philippines in Chicago celebrated yesterday, 23 July 2014, the 150th birth anniversary of Apolinario Mabini.

A short lecture was conducted by Vice Consul Ricarte Abejuela III on the life of Mabini at the Consulate General premises, with the officers and staff in attendance. Mabini was known as the “sublime paralytic” as well as being the “Brains of the Philippine Revolution.” A short slide presentation on Mabini’s life was continuously shown at the Consular waiting area for the benefit of the waiting public. A short video also on Mabini’s life was uploaded to the Consulate General’s official Facebook page. Mabini’s “The True Decalogue” was also uploaded to the Facebook page in honor of the celebrations.

The presentations at the consular waiting area will continue to be shown for the rest of the week.

A slide presentation on Mabini’s life was shown in the consular waiting area of the Consulate General for the viewing of the public. The presentation will run until the end of the week.
