The US Pinoys for Good Governance (USP4GG) Michigan pays tribute to select achievers and accomplished members of the Asian American community in Michigan. The awards is in conjunction with the 5th Annual Philippine American Friendship Celebration. The prestige that goes with this Awards is aimed at celebrating distinguished individuals and will serve as an opportunity to showcase and highlight role models for younger generations in the Asian American communities.

Individual nominations will be based on the outstanding contributions to the community in the following areas: community empowerment, personal or professional service, material or fi nancial contribution, technology advancement, and other distinctive innovations.

Via Times senior columnist- writer, Ryan Tejero was chosen as one of the members of the Selection and Nomination Committee. Ryan was recipient of the 2021 Twelve Outstanding Asian Americans that was organized by USP4GG Michigan. Ryan also currently sits as Chair of the Advisory Board of USP4GG.

USP4GG Founder and Executive Director Willie Dechavez said “It is with great pleasure to honor our Asian Hall of Famers this year. Our honorees are cream of the crop who went above and beyond of their civic duties in their respective communities.”

Wiilie was recently appointed by the city mayor of Sorsogon as the Cultural Ambassador of Sorsogon, Philippines. Both Sorsogon City and Sterling Heights in Michigan, which is Willie’s hometown here in the US, entered into an agreement as sister cities.
