Happy to Help During COVID-19

Hello Veronica

These are unusual times.

Many of our clients and friends have reached out to us wondering how to still get their pressing legal needs taken care of. It has also been top of mind that their affairs are “in order” and estate planning is done for themselves, older relatives and other family members. We understand the concern about estate planning in this environment, and also that there are legal matters that can’t wait.

We want to express that we are here to help. While, done in virtual meetings, we are still handing:

• Child Custody Cases

• Probate

• Estate Planning

• Personal Injury

• Other legal matters

During this period, I am offering a no-charge video consultation to answer questions about your individual matters and how best to solve your legal issues. Please contact me at any time at 312-546-5077 to schedule an appointment.

Glad to be of service,

Janice A. Dantes

Dear Ms. Veronica,

We were very excited to read the new VIA TIMES publication, dedicated to so many in our Filipino community in this month of MAY, especially related to multiple celebrations not only as a Mother and Asian Pacific Islander but most importantly as a Registered Nurse (RN) serving those that count on us the most.

I am very appreciative and was most pleased to see our article “A Tribute to the Nurses on the Front Lines” featured on page 16. I have shared a few publication copies upon request from coworkers on my hospital floor after they were surprisingly called or texted by family and friends after seeing their photos in your news magazine. Our hope is that this inspired article will also help your readers to better understand the uncertainty that surrounds our new daily living and to help make a difference in the communities where we live. On behalf of my group, the Chicago Nightingales, the non-profit organization of health-care professionals also extends its admiration for recognition to your front cover dedicating to National Nurses Week.

Ms. Veronica, change has come to each of our front doors, the world we knew is now different this year, it has brought many of us together by keeping us distancing apart. The VIA TIMES has been a viable print media resource for nearly four decades, now we need her to bring our Filipino community closer by any means necessary, mostly via visual social media apps. This will become her true testament, and of your proud dedication as you forge ahead with this challenge to keep us together! We find many of your articles and those of your columnist enlightening and inspiring.

Lastly, congratulations on winning the Philippines 2019 Migration Advocacy and Media (MAM) Awards for Print Journalism Award- Best magazine on Migration.

Best Regards,

Dear Veronica,

Please convey my deepest best wishes as the Filipino community observes the 122nd anniversary of the Philippine Declaration of Independence.

On this day in 1898, General Emilio Aguinaldo issued a Declaration of Independence for the Philippines from Spain. Aguinaldo became president, but the promise of independence was destroyed because Spain has ceded the Philippines to the United States after the Spanish-American War.

The United State controlled the Philippines until World War II. After invasion by Japan, Filipino and American forces fought together against the invader. After the war, the United State recognized the independence of the Philippines on July 4, 1946.

But Aguinaldo’s declaration of 1898 burned in Filipino memory, and Aguinaldo lived to see his Declaration come to life.

My thought are with our Filipino friends and neighbors on this first of two independence days for the Philippines.

Sincerely,

Maria Pappas- Cook County Treasurer
