As we celebrate the 123rd Philippine Independence celebration in this month of June (specifically June 12th), the Filipinos’ sense and spirit of pride and joy is always being expressed in kainan {food feast) and inuman (drinking) in many parties or any get-together whether in the Philippines or in any parts of the world where Filipinos thrive.

Uttering the name TANDUAY is the first thing that comes out of the celebrators’ mouths, as if the party will not be complete without TANDUAY. True, indeed, TANDUAY IS SO FILIPINO, that it has now become more or less a Filipino lifestyle that has developed into a culture of drinking with a sense of class and elegance.

To the non-Filipinos who are not familiar with the very foreign-sounding name Tanduay, may ask, “What’s TANDUAY?” Pronounced (Tagalog pronunciation: [tand-why]), Tanduay’s history is older than the Philippine Independence history, as it was founded 167 years ago versus our 123 years history of Independence celebration.

Briefly, “Tanduay traces its origins to a distillery in Hagonoy, Bulacan, originally owned by Elías Menchatorre. Although the Hagonoy distillery was already in operation at the time of the acquisition, Ynchausti y Compañia decided to use its own foundation date (1854) as the distillery’s foundation date. Six years later, a rectifying plant was constructed in Isla de Tanduay, bordering the Quiapo and San Miguel districts of Manila, becoming the original Tanduay distillery. the Tanduay distillery operated under the corporate name Tanduay Distillery, Inc. and became a successful enterprise, producing quality rum and other distilled spirits for both domestic and international markets.

On May 18, 1988, Twin Ace Holdings Corporation, a company owned by Lucio Tan, acquired the Tanduay brand and related assets of Tanduay Distillery, Inc. from Elizalde & Company, Inc. The new management launched a plant modernization and expansion program that increased the distillery’s production capacity by almost 50 times. On July 30, 1999 Twin Ace Holdings changed its corporate name to Tanduay Distillers, Inc. Aside from rum, Tanduay Distillers, Inc. also produces gin, vodka, brandy, and whiskey.

With its rich and lively heritage, the ageing process and special blend of Tanduay “reveals a lush shade of mahogany and a sweet and slightly smoky, lasting aroma of dark sugar and oak,” as one Tanduay aficionado states. Consumer Insight emphasizes, “I need a rum that would cater to my sophisticated taste, aged in authentic barrels and has distinct flavors unique from the rest.”

Today, Tanduay is being recognized as the the World’s No. 1 RUM (by Drinks International) and has been recognized as the “Best Selling Rum in the World” in the last consecutive four years.

Currently in the US, Tanduay’s undeniable aged smoothness has been gaining many Americans’ discriminating tastes and sophisticated discernment when it comes to confidence drinking.

You can find Tanduay in the following U.S. states: Florida, California, New York, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii, Guam, Michigan, Illinois, New Jersey, Minnesota and Wisconsin, and it’s growing more and faster every day as its undisputed reputation spreads globally.

Tanduay Rum’s success formula is attributed to the following: Blending expertise; Long History and Heritage; Country’s Biggest Aging Facility; Stable Molasses Supply; Quality & Wide Range of Products; and Strong Equity, and its plants located in Laguna, Negros and CDO maintain and control the quality of each bottle that come out of these plants every day.

Coming in a whole range of selections, Tanduay Rum offers the following choice labels, characterized by its own distinct blend, taste and smoothness for the satisfaction of its sophisticated consumers: Tanduay Rum Gold, Tanduay Rum Silver, Tanduay Double Rum, Tanduay Rum Dark, Tanduay Rum White, Boracay Coconut, and Boracay Cappuccino.

The remarkable Tanduay Craft is unquestionably WORLD CLASS, no doubt a sophisticated drink for the sophisticated people.
