Blessing of the Future Site of the shrine of The Immaculate Heart of Mary as She Appeared at Fatima

On a gorgeous Sunday March 5, 2017 after the 11 AM mass, Fr. Maina Waithaka, the pastor of St. Catherine Laboure Parish in Glenview, IL blessed the grounds where the first North America Monumento of the Grupo da Imaculada will be established. This sanctuary will house a statue of the Immaculate Heart of Mary as she appeared in Fatima, Portugal in 1917, exactly 100 years ago.

The plan is for the construction to be done by mid-summer and a formal consecration of Glenview and all its homes and families to the Immaculate Heart of Mary to be done on June 24, 2017.

The hope is that this will be a start of the spread of this Monumento to many other towns and cities and municipalities across USA, Canada and Mexico.

The goal of the Grupo da Imaculada from Portugal is to establish a “Monumento” in every city, town or municipality and have the homes and families be consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary so that Our Lady will protect them from all evil.

All of these activities started in a little town of Fatima in Portugal where Our Lady miraculously appeared to 3 poor shepherd children, Lucia dos Santos, Jacinta and Francisco Marto.

During the apparitions in 1917, Mother Mary prophesied that Russia would be God’s chosen “instrument of chastisement,” spreading the “errors” of atheism and materialism across the earth, fomenting wars, annihilating nations and persecuting the faithful everywhere. Our Lady asked for Russia to be consecrated to her Immaculate Heart so that the errors of communism will not spread. Unfortunately, it was not done and so WWI and WWII occurred and communism spread throughout the world starting from Russia.

On May 13, 1931, the bishops of Portugal consecrated their nation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Because of the Portuguese’s bishops obedience, the country was converted and underwent a Catholic Renaissance; the government which had openly displayed its hatred toward Christ and His Church by every means of its power, underwent a political and social renewal; and Portugal was miraculously spared from the communist terror that consumed Spain during its civil war, and from the horrible WWII.

On March 25, 1984, Pope St. John Paul II, “united with all the pastors of the Church… consecrates the whole world, especially the peoples for which by reason of their situation (our Lord) has particular love and solicitude for.”

On May 13, 1984, One of the largest crowds in the history of Fatima gathers to pray the Rosary for peace.

On May 13, 1984, An explosion at the Soviets” Severomorsk Naval Base destroys twothirds of all the missiles stockpiled for the Soviets’ Northern Fleet. The blast also destroys workshops needed to maintain the missiles as well as hundreds of scientists and technicians. Western military experts called it the worst naval disaster the Soviet Navy has suffered since WWII.

December 1984, Grupo da Imaculada was established in Portugal. It arose through Divine Intervention, prompted by God in the soul of its founder Ms. Maria das Candeias Martins Morgado, while meditating on the words Our Lady said to Sr. Lucia, at the second apparition in Fatima on June 13, 1917: “Jesus wants to establish devotion to My Immaculate Heart in the world.”
