Lucky, blessed, and all the rest. This month we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day which celebrates the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, remembering the death of the patron Saint in Ireland, and the Irish culture and heritage. This upcoming date will involve wearing green attire, shamrocks everywhere (literally) and many street festivals and parades. McDonald’s is still yet to release their limited edition Shamrock shakes and the river in Chicago to dyed green to celebrate! For many of us, whether you’re a parent or a student, this time of the year usually marks the middle of the semester. Many students are approaching their spring break. This means that it is time for vacations with family, staying at home with loved ones, or simply just sitting and relaxing. Life can be so demanding and taking a break is much needed for maximal productivity. After all, self-care is very important no matter who you are or what your occupation is. Let us hear from our four featured college students for the month of March! If you are interested in being featured, please email me at tejerokayla@gmail.com.

Arielle Encabo says, “As a current college student, I aim to finish my last semester strong before I venture to join the workforce. Although I am unsure what the future holds, I intend to work as a nurse and potentially pursue higher education later on. As I continue on with my career, I want to be able to cultivate a positive mindset in all settings I encounter, no matter the result of the outcome.”

Mohammad says, “As an Asian American college student, I am passionate about achieving academic excellence while advocating for diversity and inclusion on campus. I hope to use my education and experiences to make a positive impact in my community, addressing issues such as discrimination and bias. Ultimately, I want to be a role model for other Asian American students and inspire them to achieve their goals and make a difference in the world.

Josh Referente says, “As an Asian American college student, I hope to gain as much experience as possible before graduating in my respective professional field. I would also like to make as much positive impact on the AU community through the different student organizations I help run, as well as through different campus-related positions I am currently in. After graduation, I hope to apply everything I’ve gained from my college experience to my career path, as I hope to continue to gain valuable personal growth.”

Angelica Yabes, “As an Asian-American college student, I want to further embrace my roots in order to form deeper connections with people. I believe that diverse backgrounds and experiences are what shape a person. These differences are meant to bring us closer to one another. This being said, I will continue to be a listening ear to others and foster diverse relationships.”
