Born in Manila, Salina immigrated to the United States at the age of five. She and her next youngest brother Michael at first remained in the Philippines with their grandparents while her parents and older two brothers Francis and Butch immigrated to the states. She is extremely proud of her heritage and cultural ties in the regions of Cagayan and Pangasinan, her mother, Serafina and father Primitivo (Jun) home regions. Salina is very proud of her only son David, who in 2017 was awarded a full academic and music scholarship to the University of Kentucky, where he is also a member and principal trumpet of the University Symphony Marching Band and Jazz Solo Chair of UK Jazz Ensemble. Salina’s husband, Phil, works side-by-side with her as the head of the creative side for Product Productions, Inc./Space Stage Studios, while Salina manages the business aspects.

Salina attended the International Academy of Fashion Design and Merchandising. There, she gained the knowledge and skills to have a successful and decorated 20-year career in the fashion and retail industry. In that two-decades, Salina gained extensive experience in business management. For two-years she used her business experience to become a manager in the hospitality industry at the Park Hyatt Chicago. She also worked in Chicago’s wholesale food industry during the early 90s expanding on her retail skills. With her business experience and knowledge, Salina began searching for a new and more creative challenge, which brought her to the Film/Video industry in 2008 at Product Productions, Inc. and Space Stage Studios.

First starting in craft services she quickly moved up to production assistant and then multiple roles as a production manager and producer. All these various roles provided valuable experience and knowledge of the motion picture and television industry. Eventually, managing Product Productions and its sister company Space Stage Studios that rent/lease equipment, studio facilities, event hosting, construct sets and providing technical staffing, video editors, directors, and producers as well as producing various projects. When the opportunity arose for Salina to purchase the companies in 2011 she jumped at the chance and became the sole owner and CEO. Her purchase made Product Productions and Space Stage Studios one of the few if not the only female-minority owned film production businesses in Chicago. Space Stage Studios also serves as an event venue hosting both indoor and outdoor parties in the beautiful brick paved courtyard. You can browse their websites at www.SpaceStageStudios.com and www.ProductProductions.com.

In addition to the studio, Salina also owns and operates several other business ventures, including: XGRed, Inc., GBH2, LLC, Green Girl Global, LLC and is also a percentage partner of Protex Products, LLC. XGRed, Inc and GBH2, LLC are both real estate holdings, management and development companies that manage a portfolio of commercial and residential properties. Green Girl Global, LLC is a film and TV production company operated in tandem with Product Productions and Space Stage Studios. Protex, Inc., headquartered in Chicago, is a manufacturing company that specializes in temporary surface protection products.

Beyond business Salina enjoys cheering on her favorite Chicago sports teams. An avid hockey and Blackhawks fan she enjoys attending games as often as her schedule allows. Growing up she inherited her father’s love of baseball while attending White Sox games during family outtings, however her fandom has grown to include the Cubs. During football and basketball season, Salina also tunes in to cheer on the University of Kentucky Wildcats. Her hectic schedule allows her to attend one Wildcat home game each season, where she watches her son perform during halftime, on the field with the UK marching band . Salina also enjoys baking and even considered becoming a pastry chef when she was younger. Her specialty are her cakes, especially Filipino cassava cake. She also considers shopping a competitive sport and competes as often as she can.

Salina’s dedication, diligent work ethic and her ability to change and grow have earned her both respect and success in all of her professional and personal endeavors. She often states, her family is the main reason for her success, as they have instilled a sense of pride, compassion and moral compass. They have always cheered her on, but most importantly, helped pick her back up after experiencing set backs. She is a true believer that one can only be successful after enduring failures. The mistakes you make do not define your character. It’s what you do after you have made the mistake that defines you as a person.
