Local Teacher Nominated for Online Educator of the Year Award

While Teacher Appreciation Week happens every year, it is perhaps more important than ever this year as we recognize the challenges our nation’s educators have faced to shift classes online and ensure no student falls behind on their studies amidst the school closures due to COVID-19.

The world’s largest online learning community, Brainly, has launched a new ‘ Online Educator of the Year Award’ to honor the teachers going above and beyond to support their students in their home learning endeavors. Three outstanding educators will receive $1,000 towards classroom upgrades and resources, and nominations are open now through May 8. Members of the community can then go vote for their favorite nominated teacher through Brainly’s site here: https://brainly. com/educator.

Local teacher Darren Fuller from the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools was nominated by his students for the endless hard work he does for his students. Here is what his nominator had to say:

“Mr. Fuller has helped me learn online because he hosts weekly zoom meetings that get everyone involved, and is laidback during them and makes me look forward to them. The assignments that we get touch base on all the things we would be learning in school. He is always super understanding. He also has such clear expectations about these assignments and gives step-by-step instructions. At all 3 of my years at Lab, he is by a mile my favorite science teacher.”

We would love if you could spread the news of Darren’s nomination and encourage others to vote for him or nominate more of their favorite educators.
