“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.” Isaiah 66:13
“Mother is the name for God in the lips and hearts of little children.” William Makepeace Thackeray

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers including the grand and the great mothers! Ha ha! The month of May is special as we celebrate Mother’s Day globally. I believe mothers are distinct as they matter to God. Mothers matter to God beyond procreation of babies as women reflect an aspect of God’s heart in ways men cannot. Motherhood is God’s calling so unique, sacred and divine.

Every aspect of a mother’s femininity comes from God originally. God made females in His image with the feminine attributes and strengths that come straight from the Father heart of God.

A mother’s femininity is described in their attitudes of responding and nurturing ways. God’s word in Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call to Me, and I will answer.” God does respond to us in many ways as He is a responsive God. God also delights when we respond to Him.

Nurturing comes from the root word “nurse” or “nursing” as God nurtures and nurses or nourishes us with His love, goodness, grace, etc. One of the names of God in the Old Testament is “El Shaddai” which means the “strong one”. “Shaddai” is a form of the word for breast. El Shaddai means “The strong breasted one.” El Shaddai is the mother’s heart . . . of God the Father. It’s from the Father we receive a mother’s heart. El Shaddai longs to nurture and nurse us, if we’ll let Him, and He longs to draw us into an intimate personal relationship with Him.

El Shaddai brings healing to the hearts of many people as they go through life’s difficulties providing nurture and comfort and identity. God’s love is so powerful that it can transform people’s hearts as well as heal the soul.

I am so honored to be a mother of two sons (Nathan & Jeffrey) and a stepmother to Sandra. I am also a grandmother of six grandchildren (Jonathan Jeffrey, Joshua Caden, Mila Rose, Jordan James, Aliyah & Jeremiah Rey); three step-grandchildren (Vincent, Danielle & Joey) and great-grandmother of two step great-grandaughters (Ariana & Julia). OMG, I sound so old!

Anyways, I feel so honored to be called a grandma and also promoted to great grandmother. I am so blessed for God’s responding and nurturing spirit of the “Mother’s heart of God”! Allow me to use the acronym MOTHERS to describe and give honor to all the mothers all across the globe.

“Yet it was I who taught Ephraim to walk; I took them up by their arms, but they did not know that I healed them. I led them with cords of kindness, with the bands of love, and I became to them as one who eases the yoke on their jaws, and I bent down to them and fed them Hosea 11:3–4

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of motherhood. May the mothers who are bearers of life also be bearers of your promises in Your Word teaching the children and the children’s children going down to all generations the ways of the Lord. We pray for all the mothers of the young and grown children to have divine health/wealth and harmonious relationships bearing the fruits and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. In the Name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

“A mother is a mother from the moment her baby is first placed in her arms until eternity.” ― Sarah Strohmeyer
