Make Use of Time or Waste Time

You can buy a clock but you can’t buy time. You can buy health insurance but you can’t buy health. There are things in life that you just can’t purchase. I want to remind us of the precious gift of time we have.

In James 4:14, it says: “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

Note that time is one of the most valuable gifts that God has given us. Too often, we act as if our time is limitless, but just like most things in this world, there is an expiration date on our time.

I once heard that as you get older, time seems to get faster. If you’re 7 years old it may feel like time moves 7 miles per hour and when you’re 70 years old it moves 70 miles per hour and so forth.

The Bible is very clear that we cannot take our time for granted. Too many times we pursue the things that have nothing to do with eternity. Too many times we hold on to the hurts and pains that are caused by people that we haven’t even seen in years. Even more tragic is when we hold onto bitterness so long that we miss out on new memories with certain people because they are now no longer alive.

I heard of a story from someone who attended a Marriage Conference hear an older widow pleading with all of the couples to forgive each other when we are hurt as fast as we can because we truly never know the day or the hour our spouse may pass away. One day her late husband received tragic news about his health and in the next moment he rapidly declined and it seemed like he died out of nowhere. “Time it ticking and in this life it never stops.”

My encouragement for us today is to use our remaining time with intention and wisdom. Let us make use of our time with wisdom and not waste it.

Psalm 90:12, Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

We all need to let go of a past hurt and of being more intentional. My hope is that we would be a people of God that does not take our time for granted, but truly see it as a God ordained gift that needs to be treasured and used with great wisdom.

It’s time to pray.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of time. We thank you that you have placed us in this exact period of history for a reason. Forgive us for the times we have taken time for granted and we pray that we would see it more as a precious treasure that has been gifted to us. We pray that we would be intentional with our time today and that your Holy Spirit would lead us into a deeper love for You and those around us.

God we pray that when we eventually come face to face with You, we would be confident that we did not hold anything back from seeking You and Your kingdom. God help us to forgive quickly, to be obedient quickly, and to build your Kingdom in this season. We love you. . . We Praise You. . . We honor You. . . In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Always choose “On A Bright Side” moving further and farther “On A Brightest Side”. I love you readers with the love of the Lord yet the Lord loves you the most. You are blessed. Smile and be a blessing!
