In our vibrant Fil-Am community of Chicago, dancing is the foremost go-to activity of individuals with different purposes in life, mainly for health (physically, emotionally and mentally); for lively expression of the dance itself with music; and for socialization in satisfying their emotional needs in human interaction.

Though there are hundreds of these dancers that congregate mostly on weekends, there’s always a star that gets noticed and stands out through display of gracefulness, spontaneous and sexy execution of dance steps, and expression, execution and feeling of the dance moves. This talented dance diva describes Rose Hipona, a Hall of Famer in Danc e Arts.

These days, Rose and new dance partner Aleksander “Aleks” Boneo (he’s our VT Reader on page 6 and both were my interview guests on CPRTV), have been reaping awards and accolades in their dance competitions lately. Last October, they won 3 golds and 1 silver and 2nd place in scholarship doing International Latin at the Harvest Moon Competition. They are scheduled to be competing at the Ohio Star Ball schedu led soon, as of this writing.

Aleks is the founder and co-owner at North Shore Ballroom Dance Society, he’s a professional dancer, instructor and choreographer, with over 22 yrs of training in Bulgaria, Russia and UK.

Rose had started her love of dancing as a young student in the Philippines, always getting an A in Dancing in physical education, and had also enrolled in Jazz Dance in high school. Though armed with a bachelor of science in Chemistry in college, Rose is more set to tackle the challenges of dance competitions out there these days.##

Good luck for more dance winning prizes, awards, and accolades, to Rose and Aleks!
