Breaking News on FACC!

On behalf of Alex Gonzales, Chair of the FACC Board of Directors, we have received a few inquiries about facebook posts by the splinter group members and supporters, that the judge rejected our petition to intervene but we were allowed to run the Rizal Center.

We are writing to dispel some of the confusion. The judge has not made any decision regarding the status quo. We are still on status. She granted a continuance of 30 days, stating that there is a difference of opinion on who is in charge of the FACC and that the attachment to our petition fi led needs to include these facts. Therefore, she granted a continuance to allow amendment to our petition.

This means we will submit a list of the the offi cial FACC Board of Directors as well as show how they came to be the FACC Board of Directors.

The judge also granted our attorney’s request for a stay on the splinter group’s discovery request: The judge has suspended this request.

We thank you for your support and belief in our work. We are confi dent in our actions and moving forward in the proper spirit. Upward and onward. Best, Elaine Lehman Executive Director

Thank You, VT!

Hi Veronica, I was reading the current ViaTimes a couple of days ago, Joe’s “objectively harsh” column. After I fi nished it, something close by caught my eye, and I was completely surprised and delighted to see the cover of my novel, along with the announcement and publisher’s synopsis. Many, many thanks. Then today I was looking through your columns in the front. You were certainly most generous selecting me as one of the “August People.” Maraming Salamat! Robert (Bob) Boyer

Statement of National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum

NEW YORK — Despite an announcement from Democratic leaders Rep. Pelosi and Senator Schumer on an agreement with Trump to protect Dreamers, the White House continues to voice its strong intention to build a border wall and to keep immigrants out. NAPAWF Executive Director Sung Yeon Choimorrow released the following statement in response:

“NAPAWF has supported and continues to support a clean DREAM Act that provides a timely pathway to citizenship, not one that uses Dreamers as bargaining chips for an anti-immigrant, white supremacist administration.

“We urge Congress to reject amendments and bills that tighten border security—including the construction of a border wall— increase detention and deportation, implement changes to family-based visas and petitions, or restrict immigrant access to health care. We condemn any policy that expands deportations and attacks the family unity, reproductive freedom and economic security of thousands of AAPI lives.”

The National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF): NAPAWF is the only multi-issue, progressive, community organizing and policy advocacy organization for Asian American and Pacifi c Islander women and girls in the U.S. NAPAWF’s mission is to build a movement to advance social justice and human rights for Asian American & Pacifi c Islander (AAPI) women and girls. For more information, the media may contact Cathy Junia, NAPAWF Director of Communications and Development, at 773-213-4725 orcjunia@napawf. org

Red Cross Blood Donation

Hello,

A suffi cient blood supply is an essential part of community preparedness. As the American Red Cross responds to wildfi res and historic hurricanes this September, National Preparedness Month, eligible donors are reminded that giving blood or platelets is one way to help the Red Cross be prepared to respond to patient emergencies every day.

By sharing information about upcoming blood donation opportunities in your community, you can help ensure patients continue to receive lifesaving transfusions. Please let me know if you have any questions, would like to set up an interview or need additional information. Thank you for your support!
