White House Wants Simultaneous COVID, Flu Shots

Tuesday’s Biden administration call for all Americans to have an up-to-date COVID shot.

The good news is that you can get your COVID shot and flu shot simultaneously. It’s actually a great idea,” Dr. Ashish Jha, White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator. “I believe that this is why God gave us both the flu shot as well as the COVID shot.

Jha was joined by other members of the COVID-19 team, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, Biden’s chief physician advisor. Jha mentioned that new vaccines have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for Americans 12 and older that fight the omicron variant, which is currently prevalent in the world.

Jha stated that “for the first time since December 2020, these vaccines (our vaccines) have caught up to the virus for the first time.” Jha said that the administration had been working for the distribution of the vaccines throughout the country over the past few days.

Fauci stated that, barring any new variants, all Americans should be able receive an annual COVID vaccine. This would allow them to move away from the sporadic shots or boosters that were suggested earlier during the pandemic. Fauci said that certain “vulnerable groups” of Americans might still require “more frequent vaccination against COVID-19.”

Jha admitted that understanding vaccine requirements has not always been easy, but stated that the newer vaccines will make it easier.

Dr. Jha stated that the only exceptions from the administration’s recommendation to get immediate vaccination are those who have been infected recently or were recently vaccinated. He stated that it is “reasonable” to give these people a wait for a new shot after they have been infected.
