It has been a hectic month for many of us, VT family or not. Isn’t it? Why? It’s because we are saying goodbye to the best and most beautiful summer months and welcoming the cooler and more colorful autumn months. Of course, for young parents, they are more excited than their children who are going back to school (please see Bata Korner).
Congratulations to our columnist Lourdes Mon for her recent induction to the presidency of the Chicago Philippine Lions Club, the oldest Filipino Lions club in Chicago. See pictorial on page 18 with her column, “Lourdes’ Insights”.
Our beautiful September cover features Mylene Jao Richardson, a young author who writes a memoir about the legacy of her mother, Tessie Agana, who was a popular child actress in the Philippines in the ’50’s, together with her mother, actress Linda Agana. Please read Veronica’s Vibes for more details.
Veronica’s Vibes (page 5) features four super dynamic Filipino women, Mylene Jao Richardson (Arizona) and another author, Dr. Carmencita Fulgado (Florida), Lodi Po, and Dr. Nida Hernaez, two dynamic leaders of our community.
Your favorite columnists are sharing their summer activities and stories just like you out there, Melody Dizon about “The Green Revolution”; Maria Girlie Pascual about her passion, “The 26th annual golf tournament in North Carolina,”; for a test of character and faith, Pastor Edward Cortez on “Who gets to move in with God?” and Pastor Nancy Abiera on “Conflicts: Argue or Agree “; for legal advice, Richard Hanus (immigration lawyer) on “Marriage Fraud Trouble” and Janice Dantes’ advice on women, “How to protect yourself in a divorce if you are breadwinning wife” ; Cooking columnist Sarah Lee Turner’s cool advice on “Stay Cool: No Bakes”[; father-and-daughter good writers Ryan and Kayla Tejero. Ryan’s President Corner featuring Ginger Leopoldo of Circa Pintig, Kayla Tejero on Asian American Campus Stories; Faye Mendiola’s popular column features THEN & NOW, this time PMAC popular lady leaders Marilyn Lopez and Nancy Castro Dizon; Doug Nguyen on Social Security updates; Jan Paul Ferrer on smart financial advice; and finally and hilariously, James DC (dela Cruz).
