“My deep need calls out to the deep kindness of your love. Your waterfall of weeping sent waves of sorrow over my soul, carrying me away, cascading over me like a thundering cataract. All through the day YAHWEH has commanded His endless love to pour over me.” Psalms 42:7-11
“The Lord said to the people, “But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an overflowing stream.” Amos 5:24
We flew Tuesday afternoon from Chicago O’Hare to Buffalo New York and spent the night at the Hilton Falls View. I travelled with Veronica Leighton.
The following morning, I woke up in amazement reminding me of the animals God created: buffaloes and eagles. I kept quiet and still as I was reflecting while Veronica was still sound asleep.
I then looked out the window and saw the majestic Niagara Falls. I took a picture of the views; captured the Buffalo NY waterfall on the left side and Ontario Canada on the right side of Niagara Falls. It was awesome and breathe-taking as I beheld the beauty of Niagara Falls. It was incredible.
I went down memory lanes 40 years ago. I first saw this same beauty of creation. It reminded me of God’s awesome creative power. I was so “depressed” yet when I saw God’s hands on this same waterfall, suddenly I felt a “deep-rest” inside of me. The “depressed” Nancy experienced “deep rest” in God’s masterpiece. No one can argue. Only our great God can make such wonder.
Fast forwarding . . . I learned later on in the Scripture that God created us gorgeous & beautiful (fearfully and wonderfully made In God’s image & likeness).
Moreover, God made us much higher than any animals yet we can learn from them as well.
As I looked at the Buffalo, New York side, it came to me in Numbers 23:22, where it says: “God brought him out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of a buffalo.”
Buffaloes are known for their strength and resilience. They choose to face storms head-on, thereby reducing their time in discomfort and conflict and at the same time building strength. Yes, this is what we can learn from the Buffaloes on FACING challenges of life as we put our trust in Jesus.
Let us not be like the cows. We can choose to be powerful like Buffaloes and face life storms head on but not run away in fear like cows.
To make my point clear, I am using the acronym “FACING…”
F. Faithful in Prayer to our
A. Amazing God’s full of Grace turning
C. “Crisis” to “Christ-is” focusing on Jesus deeper, longer, wider and higher.
I. Imagining God’s Great Power in us that
N. Nothing is Impossible with
G. God…as God turns “Impossible” to “I’m Possible”
We, as followers of Jesus may learn from the animals like the Buffaloes.
Secondly, we can also learn from the eagles.
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 41:30
Be mindful that when we trust and depend on God only and surely, God sees the buffaloes and the eagles in us.
We are not chickens who does “isang kahig, isang tuka”. (Filipino quote in English … “One labors in misery to get one meal”)
On the opposite, we are like eagles looking and riding the strong winds of storms while soaring above it.
As I gazed in the beauty of Niagara Falls, I am fully convinced of the strong power God has for all of us pouring His water in us like waterfalls of blessings..
“For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.” Isaiah 44:3
Always choose “On A Bright Side” moving further and farther “On A Brightest Side”. I love you readers with the love of the Lord, yet the Lord loves you the most. You are blessed. Smile and be a blessing!
