Historical Labor Day, Remembering 9/11 and The Magnificence of Niagara Falls

By: Veronica Leighton

We are observing this month of September two very important impactful events that happened in this country that have made indelible marks in history forever, These are the historical Labor Day (see Editorial on this page) and the 9/11 World Trade Center New York attack (23 years today, Never Forget). God bless the hapless victims and the heroes, firemen and policemen, who sacrificed their lives in this unforgettable tragedy.

“Had a chance to escape Chicago by flying in to the neighboring Canada to visit one of God’s unique wonders in this world, Niagara Falls, for a very short time before meeting our first-week-of-the-month deadline of the Via Times Newsmagazine. Accompanied by one of VT columnists, Pastor Nancy Abiera, I’d say it was the most exhilarating and spectacular trip-of-a-lifetime I’ve ever taken in my life, so endearing and enduring, as it has been in my “bucket list” after moving into this country for more than sixty years ago. I’d say it was worth the wait, plus the fact that it was my first time to undertake an international trip after my stroke affliction last October.”

Like children, Pastor Nancy Abiera (“On A Bright Side” columnist) and I enjoyed and absorbed some attractions and offerings the Falls had to offer. Thankfully, we were lucky to stay on the 28th floor of the popular Hilton Hotel Ontario, Canada with a very impressive huge casino (putting Las Vegas to shame) and providing us a room with a magnificent view of the Niagara Falls, both US (on the left) and Canada (on the right). We dared to get an up-close experience taking a boat cruise in to the mist for a wet and wild view of the 13-story-tall Niagara Falls (US side). A completely different sensation and unforgettable memories at “Journey Behind the Falls where you hear sounds like thunder as you descend to tunnels that travel to Observation Decks literally behind the falls.”

Featured in this beautiful September is Brigitte Carino Cueter, popular CPRTV newscaster, who recently graduated from Loyola University and has amassed many awards as the school’s outstanding graduate. Please enjoy reading about Brigitte’s accomplishments in inside page.

`Your favorite columnists are bringing to you for this month their most interesting topics of their expertise that you have been interestingly following up, with you in their minds. Let’s say adieu to the beautiful summer and welcome with open arms the upcoming colorful autumn months. Enjoy reading Via Times from cover to cover.###
