UPAA in America Donates to UP School of Economics

UPAA in America (UPAAA) gained recently a new donor who is an alumna of UP School of Economics (UPSE). The generous donation will support two undergraduate students at the UP School of Economics, Diliman, through scholarship grants, and contribute to UPSE’s computer needs. The new donor is Michelle Tejero from New Jersey. She graduated her degree in BS Business Economics in 1998 and went to finish her MBA in Wharton in 2005.
Michelle expressed, “My time at the UP School of Economics fueled my curiosity and inspired me to dream beyond what I thought was possible. The education I received laid the foundation for pursuing graduate studies and ultimately building a financial services career in the United States. Through the scholarship grant and computer donation, I hope to pay that forward.”
UPAAA provides different ways to support UP students and development efforts of various UP constituent universities/campuses/colleges. Financial assistance can be in the form of Stipend Scholarships of at least $500 for one semester, or at least $1,000 per school year. Donors have naming rights to the grant. UPAAA encourages donors to continue their support until the student graduates. Financial assistance can also be for recent accounting graduates who need help with the CPA Review course and the CPA exam fees. It can be donation of equipment or renovation of a lab or classroom. It can also be Junior Faculty Grants to inspire younger UP educators to stay in the University, or undergraduate thesis assistance grants of at least $1,000. Here in the US, UPAAA assists UP alumni and students pursuing further education or training through its International Student Assistance Grant (ISAG), with at least $1,000 as a one-time donation.
