Three Children of a Tricycle Driver Pass Board Exams in One Year

THREE LICENSES
“During the test, all I could see were my parents’ faces, reminding me why I had to pass,” Michael Jhared Luzon said.
Three siblings from Zamboanga Sibugay turned 2025 into a year of shared victory after passing their respective board exams in the same year.
Karen Claire, Nikko Victor, and Michael Jhared Luzon, all graduates of Mindanao State University, became licensed professionals after years of hardship, delayed exams, and family sacrifice.
Behind their success was a father who worked multiple jobs to help keep the family going. He worked as a security guard by dawn, a farmer by day, and a tricycle driver by night.
Their mother also worked hard to support the family, caring for the elderly and stretching a small income to provide food for their household.
Michael, the sixth child in a family of ten, remembered growing up with limited resources. He used the same school bag from Grade 1 through high school, walked to school in slippers along puddled roads, repaired his own uniforms, and even inked his toes to hide holes in his black school shoes.(Iskolar Ng Bayan; META)
