Vicky Silvano President, Chicago Association of REALTORS®

By: Ryan Tejero

Hailed as the first Filipino American, and first woman president of Chicago Association of Realtors is Vicky Silvano. In my interview, Vicky spoke about her top priorities, which are: Industry Collaboration, Technology Education, and Advocacy and Property Rights.
She said “My first priority is to increase collaboration with key industry groups — lenders, developers, community organizations, and policy partners. Strengthening these relationships creates a unified voice for the real estate community, improves professionalism, and ensures REALTORS® are positioned to influence the future of housing in Chicago. My second goal is to elevate technology education, especially as AI and digital tools rapidly reshape the real estate landscape. By empowering members with modern skills, you help them stay competitive, serve clients more effectively, and adapt confidently to industry transformation. My third priority is to strengthen advocacy efforts that protect property rights, expand homeownership opportunities, and promote long‑term housing sustainability. This ensures REALTORS® remain strong defenders of Chicago’s communities and champions for equitable access to homeownership.”
As a realtor for over 30 years, Vicky’s strong edge as the new leader of the organization is the power of longevity in the industry. She has witnessed the industry evolve through multiple market cycles, regulatory shifts, and technological revolutions. This gives her perspective that newer professionals simply don’t have. Vicky embraced technology rather than resisted it. Learning new tools and systems has helped her navigate the ebbs and flows of the business and stay ahead of change. For three decades in real estate builds grit. She weathered downturns, booms, and everything in between — and that resilience is exactly what members look for in a leader. Her experience positions her to guide newer agents, helping them avoid pitfalls and accelerate their growth. Together, these lessons make her a steady, forward‑thinking President who understands both the history and the future of the industry.
As the new leader of this influential organization in Chicago, Vicky shares her deep thoughts about leadership. She says, “My pride comes from service, not status. Leadership is not another feather in my cap — it’s an opportunity to impact and uplift the membership. I lead with humility, purpose, and a commitment to making REALTORS® stronger, more unified, and better equipped for the future.
As the first Filipino‑American President of the Chicago Association of REALTORS®, I carry a deep sense of pride and responsibility.
I would want to elevate minority communities — the emerging
homeowners, entrepreneurs, and leaders of tomorrow. My presidency signals that the industry is evolving, becoming more inclusive, and embracing the diversity of Chicago.”
The Chicago REALTORS® has a mission to unite all facets of the industry as a leading advocate for real estate, drives realtor business success, and supports the economic development of diverse communities. It has a vision that all realtors and their communities across Chicagoland
are vibrant and thriving. Its strategic roadmap includes: Increase consumer understanding about the role and value of the REALTOR® as a trusted advisor in any real estate transaction and enable REALTORS® to deliver on this promise; Strengthen Chicago REALTORS®’ position as the leading voice for real estate in Chicago by increasing engagement with the public and proactively advocating to address inequity and other issues that impact the members’ business and the real estate industry; Broaden real estate practitioners’ understanding of Chicago REALTORS®’ value proposition and increase use of the Chicago REALTORS®’ offerings most
relevant for enhancing their business success; Grow Chicago REALTORS®’ influence as a leading voice in real estate on diversity, equity and inclusion, and foster a sense of belonging for all members; Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy to collect and use more robust data to power decision-making for the
