CN Nurses event Peace, Remembrance, and Navigating our Shared Future Together
On August 1, 2026, a meaningful gathering took place at the Trickster Native Indian Cultural Center in our Midwest USA, bringing together community leaders, career diplomats, and representatives from various organizations.
In collaboration with the Chicago Nightingales (CN), led by its newly inducted President Mr. Ebenezer Jereos, the event highlighted shared history and the sacrifices and contributions of many countries. Consul Ma. Teresa Alders, Ph.D., represented the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago and delivered remarks emphasizing the Philippines’ role as this year’s ASEAN Chair and its vision of
“Navigating Our Future Together.” She was accompanied at the event by Consular Assistant Mr. Dennis V. Marnilego.
Another segment of the program focused on the Korean War, often referred to as the “Forgotten War,” and the important contributions of Filipino soldiers who served under the Philippine Expeditionary Forces to Korea (PEFTOK). Representatives from Belgium and Turkey also spoke about their countries’ contributions during the conflict.
The program closed with the message “Peace through Remembrance,” recognizing the 81st anniversary of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in solemn memoriam of the countless civilians affected by the tragedies of August 1945.
Gatherings such as these, serve as both a reminder and a call to continued partnership- honoring those who served while rousing our future generations. The successful event achieved its purpose, honoring the past while inspiring hope for a more peaceful future.
