GLORIA QUINAY President, City of Seven Lakes Association Midwest Chapter

Other than the popular Villa Escudero in San Pablo City, little did we know that it is also blessed by Mother Nature with seven beautiful and scenic lakes. Here in the Midwest, Filipino Americans who hailed from one of this city have organized themselves in 1986 to form the City of Seven Lakes Association (CSLA) – Midwest Chapter. The seven lakes in San Pablo City are: Sampalok Lake, which is the city’s biggest and premier lake and is located within the city proper of San Pablo; Yambo Lake – located at Barangay San Lorenzo adjacent to Pandin; Bunot Lake – only 4.5 kms. from the city proper; Pandin Lake – located at Barangay San Lorenzo; Mohicap Lake- in Barangay Sta. Catalina; Calibato Lake – in Barangay Sto. Angel, and Palakpakin Lake – in Barangay Buenaventura;

Over the years, CSLA has been successfully promoting friendly relations among its members here in the US. The social gatherings that have been organized year after year have been aimed at bringing everyone closer to each other, and reach out to others to increase its membership. Just like any other Filipino organizations, CSLA members have also developed that close affinity with their hometown. Members have been raising funds to sustain their projects for San Pablo City. It has been extending financial help or donated items to the San Pablo City to support its development efforts. CSLA takes pride in sending donations of wheel chairs and refrigerators for the Community Hospital of San Pablo City. The donated items have benefited both patients and workers at the community hospital. Members have also sent medical supplies to the Puericulture Centers in San Pablo City. This has been very helpful in providing more services to locals who go to the health centers for treatment. CSLA also has been awarding scholarship benefits to deserving students in San Pablo City.

Currently heading CLSA is Gloria Quinay. She migrated to the United States in March 1993. She completed her college education from the University of the East with a degree in BS in Business Administration Major in Accounting. Prior to migration to the US, she has worked as a Bookkeeper for eight years at Golden Egg, Inc. She is currently working as Analyst Controller at JPM Capital Corporation, and has been connected with her current employer since 1993. Gloria is married to Edizer Quinay. Gloria and Edizer are blessed with a son, Rodlester, who is currently working with Menards.

Mrs. Quinay is calling all Filipino Americans in the Midwest to become pro-active in the activities that would enhance good relationship in the community, and to be ready to share the blessings to others, especially to those less fortunate Filipino Americans.
