Remembering John Lennon and Imagining

“Living is easy with eyes closed.” – John Lennon (October 9, 1940 – December 8, 1980)

British Singer, Songwriter, Author, Actor, Artist, Peace Activist

At about 10:30 pm on Monday, December 8, 1980, my mother awakened us to tell us that John Lennon had died. We thought it was a cruel joke someone played, but then we watched the news. John Lennon was tragically gunned down in front of his residence in the Dakota on New York’s Upper West Side.

We were introduced to John Lennon’s music by our nannies in the Philippines, and we grew up fans. During my NYC days, I would frequently visit Strawberry Fields.

Forty years later, John Lennon’s blessed memory still touches us, and continues to inspire us as we Imagine all the people living for today.

In all we do, we remember him as we strive to advance a more kind, equitable, inclusive and just society.

Take care of yourself and one another. Wear a mask, wash your hands, stay safe and stay home whenever possible. Be kind.
