Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day 2020

Elements of The American Legion 9th District assembled at Monument Park in Chicago’s Edison Park neighborhood on December 7 to honor the memories of those killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. 9th District Commander Dale Tippett led the assembly and read a proclamation from President Trump. Chicago Police 16th District Commander Maureen Biggane led the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. Histories were shared about the attack and a plea for all veterans to document their testimonies. Also, remarks included to protect our monuments from vandals and destruction as well as to be proactively and unapologetically dedicated to teaching our children and children’s children to be good citizens. Positions in the Philippines as well as other strategic locations were also attacked by Imperial Japan at the onset of the United States entering World War ll.
