UP Alumni unite for our ISKOlars

“UP Alumni Unite” is our battle cry when we fundraise for UP scholarships last year. And people heard us! Since 2018, UPAAA, Inc. has offered seven (7) undergraduate stipend scholarships, thanks to donations from alumni and non-alumni alike – small donations add up. “For the incoming 2nd semester, we will extend stipend scholarships to an additional five (5) undergrads, and perhaps even more once all the legal paperwork can get signed and sealed in UP.” said Dr. Joy Celo, Scholarship Committee chair.

The UPAAA, Inc. permanent endowment fund for stipend scholarships is awaiting completion of a revised agreement with UP. We hope the fund can support at least five more Iskolars. Distance learning has been particularly challenging to students all over the world. Financial difficulties, the lack of in-person socialization and bonding, some not-so-ideal home situations, calamities (both natural and manmade) may break one’s spirit. Now more than ever, more students need our financial assistance to help them graduate.

We encourage each and every UP alumni to donate a small recurring amount to add up to our scholarship fund. For as little as $5 monthly recurring donation, we can reach our goal of providing stipend allowance for as many students as possible each semester. You can also create an endowment fund under your name under our donor-funded memorial or pass-through scholarship. Despite difficulties during this pandemic, we are grateful for your continuous generosity. Thank you to the following who have donated to our scholarship fund: UPAA Arizona; Dr. Francis Sy; Dr. Joy Celo and Soriano family; Daisy Rodriguez; Lourdes Filoteo; Aniano Rabe; Adelwisa Agas Weller. Many thanks as well as our donors to the first UPAAA International Student Assistance Grant in 2020 for Mac Kevin Braza, PhD in Chemistry at UCSD San Diego: Christopher de Jesus, Zen Ply, Joan Schellinger, Frances Joan Alvarez, Geoffrey Li, Carol Colborn, Juanita F Caccam, Francis Sy, Romulo Aquino, Dina B Ellorin, Susan de los Santos, Emma Aquino, Luz Micabalo, Belle Limoge and Maria Solacito. Thank you so much and God bless your kind hearts!
