UPAAGC Welcomes 22nd UP President to Chicago

UP Alumni Association of Greater Chicago (UPAAGC) hosted a welcome dinner for University of the Philippines President Angelo “Jijil”Jimenez and UP Vice President for Academic Affairs Leo Cubillan and UP Vice President for Public Affairs Jose Wendell Capili on July 7, 2023 at Rosebud on Randolph in Downtown Chicago. President Jimenez, or PAJ, spoke to the UP alumni present at the dinner about his vision of UP not stopping at being one of the best universities in the world but giving all young Filipinos access to UP education thereby contributing to nation-building. He is in town to attend the UPMASA grand convention in Chicago and took time out of his busy schedule to meet his fellow alumni. He thanked the UP alumni in Chicago for their contributions to the university and said he and his team feel the kinship and common bond of UP as home all throughout their stay. He further called on all in attendance to continue supporting the university even citing specific needs of current UP students for stipend scholarships.

Also in attendance at the dinner was Philippine Consul General to the Midwest V. Susana Paez who is also a UP Alumna. Current UP College of Medicine Dean Charlotte Chiong stopped to say hello to the group while attending a UP College of Medicine reunion in the same restaurant.
