Save the date, April 1, 2020 Census Day!

Yes, it’s April Fool’s Day, but this will be the day that every home would have received an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census (actually, some people have already started filling out the Census form starting on March 12).

The American Census Bureau is committed to the most accurate and efficient count of the nation’s population (this happens every ten years).

To achieve a complete census count of the populations, community partners should work harder to amass a widespread census information campaign. To achieve this goal, strategies are focused on reaching hard-tocount groups like communities that have no history of civic engagements or records of minimal involvement in the past Census years, like senior citizens, homeless, non-English speaking groups or persons of disabilities, etc.

To encourage Census participation by marginal groups, community partners should highlight the message that the Census 2020 is easy, important, and safe.

The survey data is confidential and, under no circumstances, will Census responses be shared with other government agencies like the immigration officials and the IRS.

This is quite important and a concern to many non-citizens since there is a common belief among this group that they are ineligible to participate because of their immigration status.

The Census is about producing a maximum, if not complete, data yielded for many non-partisan reasons to benefit the nation.

There is just too much at stake for us not to mobilize with a fullcourt press performance by all levels of people involved. Let us not mess it up, be counted, and no need to be afraid of the Census 2020. It’s not like CORONAVIRUS!
