Billy Goat Curse on Cubs

The curse of the Billy Goat was supposedly placed on the Chicago Cubs franchise in 1945 by Billy Goat Tavern owner William Sianis that lasted in a 71-year period, from 1945 to 2016.

Because of the odor of Murphy, the Goat, that was bothering many Cubs fans, Siamis was asked to leave Wrigley Field during the fourth game of the 1945 World Series. Outraged, Sianis put a curse that the “Cubs are not going to win no more,” which has been interpreted to mean that either the Cubs would never win another national league pennant, or they would never again win a World Series.

The Cubs lost the Series in 1945 to the Detroit Tigers, and did not win a World Series again until 2016. After the curse, the Cubs never played in the World Series again until, on the 46th anniversary of Billy Sianis’ death. They defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-0 in Game 6 to win the National League pennant in 2016. The Cubs defeated the American League champion Cleveland Indians 8-7 in Game 7 to win the 2016 World Series, thus ending the Billy Goat curse.

To counter the Billy Goat curse, the Chicago local fans in our community tried to exorcse the goat curse in different contra pela or anticurse… My friend Tony Labar put a picture of his late Mom (a devoted Cubs fan) in front of the TV to help the Cubs win the Game 7 of the World Series…James dela Cruz went out of the house and called on the Almighty for the Cubs to win…Veronica Leighton went to bed, saying that, “When I wake up tomorrow, the Cubs will be the World Champion”….Steve Jackson didn’t shave his beard until the Cubs won the championship…another neighbor, Sam, wouldn’t take off the Cubs cap until they won the Series.

This year, our Cubs fan were wearing the right hats, shirts, underwear, and socks, and the cost of indulging in superstitions are low, after all. What harm could there be wearing the same jersey every game (as long as youwash it after each wear)? It is much harder to think about counter-superstition outcome.

For 2017, I curse the curse to win 5 World Series games in a row… GO CUBS!

Thousands gathered to protest the election results that Donald Trump will be the next sitting president of this country. Among the issues being yelled by protesters were immigration and other controversial topics from the last presidential campaign.

Protesters expressed their disdain for the President-elect Donald Trump, but not one issue was addressed by the protesters. And, what can they accomplish by the protest? How come there are no leaders to nogotiate the protesters’ demands? Who is supporting these nationwide protests financially? Are the protesters Americans? Why are they flying the Mexican flag? ****

SUPER MOON 2016

Full moon in orbit making it closest to earth happened on November 14, 2016, and appearing up to 14% bigger and 30% brighter. This Super Moon is special, as there will be no Supermoon until 2034– the biggest and brightest SUPERMOON, the most powerful moon in years, rare and historic.

Psychics are saying that there is “a short window of time for you to harvest your hopes and dreams that are now ripe for the taking, the sign you’ve been waiting for that your past regrets and painful disappointments can be permanently eliminated.”

Aren’t we FABULOUSLY LUCKY to experience Super Moon in our lifetime? It will take another 69 years for another Supermoon to appear on the horizon. Happy birthday to two Super Moon ladies born on November 14th, our very own Louella Cabalona and Neneth Miranda.
