The Consulate General of the Philippines in Chicago launched the Youth Leaders in the Diaspora (YouLeaD) Immersion Program on 01 October 2018 coinciding the kickoff celebration of the Filipino American History Month at the James R. Thompson Center in Chicago, Illinois.
In her welcome remarks, Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin invited the audience to join the very first Midwest YouLeaD Immersion Program to help young Fil-Ams trace their roots, discover their heritage and realize their potential as upand- coming leaders in the community through a better understanding and appreciation of their ethnicity.
The Midwest YouLead Immersion Program, conceptualized by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), is open to 16-25 years old Filipino Americans and residents of any of the 12 Midwestern States (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin). The immersion program is scheduled to take place from 03 – 09 January 2018 featuring top destinations in Manila, Cavite and Tagaytay.
The basic tour package of USD 450 consists of a seven-day module that combines lectures on Philippine history and language and guided tours to scenic and historical landmarks in the Philippines.

The Consul General encourage the Filipino American community organizations under its jurisdiction to sponsor its young members by joining the Immersion Program to experience and gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines as well as the incomparable hospitality of Filipinos.
