The Fall or Autumn months are upon us, and many people, lockdown or no-lockdown observers, begin to plan for fall and winter holiday celebrations. Yes, time for the traditional celebrations for the upcoming Halloween and Thanksgiving, preceding the Christmas and New Year’s in the winter.

But Year 2020 has been an exceptional year. Unlike the past years, this is the fateful year that we got hit with Covid-19 virus. Due to the fact that there is this invisible virus that hits the whole humanity, we have experienced and faced with so much nuisances through legal rules and regulations that pertain to our health, our family’s health, our friends’ health, our neighbors’ health, the whole community and humanity health. So suddenly, things got serious and we got scared.

With lockdowns having been lifted in our state of Illinois (after seven months of quarantine), there are some rules or considerations issued by the CDC (Communicable Disease Center) to help protect yourselves and other individuals that you interact with, emphasizing mask covering, six-feet distancing and washing hands. Strict restrictions particularly applicable when thinking of holding parties or some special occasions.

Through this horrible pandemic, we can still consider ourselves lucky that we have access to modern conveniences for communication or reaching out, in the form of Iphone and Zoom, social media, and others, so as we don’t feel lost or alone. Whether we admit it or not, social interactions of any kind can help relieve any negative feelings of self-pity or loneliness.

I encourage our readers to go outside well protected, enjoy the beautiful and colorful foliage of the autumn, and enjoy eating your adobos and lechons!
