Marcelino “Boy” Alviz April 13, 1947 – October 2, 2021
Philippines’ popular and amazing magician, Boy Alviz has brought joy and laughter to many people, including to his music and entertainment business clienteles.
As a magician, he competed both in the Philippines and internationally, and had won top places and trophies. He was the founder and fi rst president of the Inner Magic Club of the Philippines (founded in September 1996), which he headed for several years. He had served as Chairman Emeritus of the Magicians Club Organization until his demise. He credited his beloved brother-in-law Fred Tsai as his inspiration for his discovered talent in magic tricks that started when Fred showed him his card tricks while playing at the Manila Peninsula Hotel. From there on, he had made sure and passionately taught his magic team that practice makes perfect in the world of magic.
A high-school graduate of UST EHS (Class ’64), he graduated with bachelor of science degree major in banking and fi nance from the University of Santo Tomas in 1971. He successfully pursued his business career in the entertainment business that he founded, and likewise thrived and succeeded in his loved hobby of magic.
The beloved son of the late Bienvenido and late Amelia (Clemente) Alviz, he was the husband of the late Leslie Alviz, and father of only loving surviving son, Byron Alviz.
He is survived by eldest sister Leonor Alviz Tsai (Fred) and Olivia Reantaso (deceased Oscar Reantaso); many nieces and nephews and grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held in the Philippines after the Covid pandemic situation in the country. His creamains for now rest at St.Therese Columbaruim Church in Paranaque, Philippines.
A witty, kindhearted and gentle soul, may Boy Alviz rest in eternal peace and may the perpetual light shine upon him.
