The Illinois Elvis Festival’s Post
The Illinois Elvis Festival is making a triumphant return to Collinsville, Illinois, from July 17th to 19th, 2025, and it promises to deliver an unforgettable experience for fans of The King. Set in the vibrant Gateway Convention Center, this spectacular event will feature six distinct shows and over ten talented Elvis tribute artists, each adding their own unique style and charisma to the stage.
Long before the world knew his name, Elvis Presley was just a young boy growing up in Tupelo, Mississippi — poor, soft-spoken, and deeply drawn to music. Life wasn’t easy. His family struggled financially, and Elvis often worked small jobs to help out. But amidst those hardships, he found comfort in the sounds of gospel music at church and on the radio.
At age 11, he received his first guitar — a simple gift that would quietly mark the beginning of something extraordinary. He didn’t have formal training, but what he did have was heart. He played, he sang, and little by little, music became a part of who he was.
Years later, during an early conversation about his career, Elvis was asked what kind of singer he was. His response said it all: “He said he was a singer. I said, ‘What kind of a singer are you?’ He said, ‘I sing all kinds.’ I said, ‘Who do you sound like?’ He said, ‘I don’t sound like nobody.’” And he didn’t. Because even from the very beginning, Elvis wasn’t trying to be like anyone else. He was just being himself — and that made all the difference. (FB)
