Luisita Donna McBurney President, FAS of Iowa FAS Iowa’s Filipino Fiesta 2025: Celebration of Culture and Community

By: Ryan Tejero
This year brings us one of the most vibrant and popular celebrations in the Midwest. The Filipino Fiesta is back on June 14th at the Living History Farms, Urbandale, IA. Organized by the Filipino American Society of Iowa (FAS), this event will showcase a festive extravaganza of Filipino
heritage, community, and culture. This event is open to the public and promises to bring a full day of music, food, dance, and cultural exploration.
The Filipino Fiesta is more than just a festival—it’s a joyful blending
of Filipino and American traditions that reflects the rich tapestry of our shared experiences. Whether you’re a longtime community member, curious visitor, or cultural enthusiast, this event offers something for everyone.
A Showcase of Culture
Step into a world of color and tradition with our stunning displays of Filipino cultural attire. From the elegant Barong Tagalog to the intricate Maria Clara dresses, a fashion show and parade of traditional garments will transport you to the heart of the Philippines. Throughout the day, enjoy a variety of live performances alongside American-influenced musical acts that reflect the unique cultural fusion of the Filipino American experience.
Feast on Authentic Filipino Cuisine
No fiesta is complete without incredible food—and this event got it in abundance! Multiple food vendors will be on site serving both Filipino and American favorites, but the spotlight will shine brightest on authentic Filipino cuisine. From savory adobo and hearty pancit to sweet treats like halo-halo, there’s something to tempt every palate. Don’t miss the most anticipated favorite—crispy, golden lumpia, the beloved Filipino eggroll that keeps everyone coming back for seconds (and thirds)!
Family-Friendly Fun for All Ages
The Filipino Fiesta is designed as a family-oriented event. Kids can enjoy cultural games, crafts, and hands-on activities while adults explore local vendors, community booths, and heritage exhibits. Whether you’re learning a traditional dance, tasting a new dish, or discovering the stories of Filipino Americans in Iowa, the Fiesta is a celebration of unity, identity, and pride.
Bridging Cultures, Building Community
At its heart, this event is about connection. The Filipino Fiesta brings people together to celebrate shared values of family, hospitality, resilience,
and joy. It’s an opportunity to honor the past, celebrate the present, and inspire future generations by preserving and sharing Filipino traditions in a uniquely American setting.
Everyone is invited to come and experience the warmth, rhythm, and flavor of the Philippines.
Admission is free and open to all. Follow FAS to learn more about them on social media @FilipinoAmericanSocietyIA for updates, performance schedules, and vendor highlights.
