Chicago and the Student Conservation Association

Good Morning Veronica, The Student Conservation Association (SCA), the national leader in providing young people with career-shaping opportunities in conservation, has reached a phenomenal milestone— 75,000 volunteers in total – and both Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania have played important roles in that success. Chicago is one of SCA’s main hubs, and in 2013, Friends of the Forest Preserve was among the places nationwide that received the most volunteers. Illinois ranked fourth among all states for providing volunteers. To commemorate that extraordinary landmark – and its representation of the thousands of young people who got their start as environmental stewards at SCA – the organization reached out to selected former volunteers and asked them to reflect on their experiences with the organization. Each day through the end of summer, a new profile is shared on the SCA website (http://www.the sca. org/c onnect/ 75k). Some of the featured alumni include people who have gone on to become leaders in their industries, whether fine arts, business, medicine or conservation. Another is Chicago resident Ernie Wong, one of the nation’s leading landscape architects.

Thanks, Miranda Barbot, SCA

ROBIN WILLIAMS: What may have happened

Dear Editor, Dr Bart Rossi, Renowned Clinical Psychologist discusses what have transpired with Robin Williams: “He has most likely had a longstanding personality disorder. Psychologists call it a borderline personality. His depression, alcohol problems, and drug issues were responsible for overriding his will to live. Even though he was so successful in life.” Dr Rossi further elaborates by stating: “He managed to have his odd, quirky personality become remarkably funny and enduring. He was brilliant and yet terribly ill with psychological/mental health problems his whole life.” He finally asserts that: “No matter how smart or capable, even famous, someone may be this highlights the importance of psychological treatment and mental health intervention.” Although he has not treated Robin Williams or can definitely determine what happened, he is able to discuss the topic for your viewers / readers. He is available for in person interview, His web site is www.brossi.us as he appeared on MSNBC, FOX and other notiable national outlets as a an expert in the psychology field.
