In Michigan, Evangelista is a brand, a name synonymous with success, power, influence, fame and fortune. Led by its famous patriarch, Dr. Jose “Joe” and its equally famous matriarch, Dr. Stella, the Evangelista children are high achievers and very successful in their own right. Four are medical doctors, one is a Real Estate Developer and another one, Marcus, is a CPA-Lawyer, MBA, who was just recently appointed as the Philippine Honorary Consul in Michigan, following the footsteps of his father, Dr. Jose, who will continue to remain as the Honorary Consul General of the Philippines in Michigan concurrently with Marcus, until he decides to retire his good office.

Marcus is currently the corporate counsel of Maple Manor Rehab Center and Evangelista Development Co., handling legal, financial and business matters. He manages 350 employees and is responsible for a mid-sized real estate portfolio of offices, apartments, condos, shopping centers and medical and nursing facilities. In addition, Marcus has his own practice and law firm specializing in real estate, construction, business, health care, employment, litigation and immigration. He handles all immigration petitions and sponsorships for nurses and therapists who work at the Evangelista companies. Of the six siblings, Marcus is the most accessible to the Fil- Am community. He currently serves as general counsel of the UST Medical Alumni Association and assists in medical missions, foundation activities and tax issues. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Michigan Circulo Pampagueno. His company is the largest corporate sponsor of two Filipino sports organizations, FASAMI and FAST-D. Marcus also used to assist the Philippine Honorary Consulate with consular and immigration affairs in Detroit until this appointment.

Honors, Awards and Recognition

Aside from being a lawyer, Marcus also holds a CPA and an MBA degree. He graduated with honors from Cranbrook High School, obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with distinction from University of Michigan Business School and completed his law studies at Boston College Law School, finishing with a degree in Juris Doctor (JD) and Master’s in Business Administration, graduating in the Honor Society of Beta Gamma Sigma. Marcus also took Post-Graduate Training in Business Management at the Harvard Business School. While in school, Marcus was brilliant. He was awarded Most Persuasive Speaker, won a partial scholarship for winning Business Consulting Competition in the MBA program, elected Representative to the Michigan Student Government and was chosen Orientation Leader for new students.
