Brenda Sanagustin President Kiwanis Metro North Troy, MI

Kiwanis is an international organization that helps children from all over the world. Its strong advocacies, as manifested in its numerous initiatives, had gathered a strong community of volunteers who share the passion to create an improved world for children and their communities. Today, Kiwanis is a strong positive infl uence in communities worldwide. Kiwanis clubs adhere to service. It is composed of servant leaders. Its focus is changing the world by serving children, one child and one community at a time.

In Michigan, Kiwanis Metro North Troy is currently headed by an inspiring and top notch Filipino American leader Maria Brenda Sarria Sanagustin. A proud Ilongga, she hails from Roxas in Capiz. She is a Registered Nurse, with both of her bachelor’s and master’s completed from Central Philippine University. Prior to migrating to the United States, Brenda worked as a Clinical Instructor and Associate Professor at the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City.

When she came to Detroit in Michigan, she joined the BAMNA Home Health Care as an Administrator of Clinical Operation in 1988. She occupied several top level management positions such as: Director of Clinical Services-Certifi ed Home Health Care with Midwest Home Health Care, Executive Director of MCN Care – MSS/ISS Program in Southfi eld, Michigan; member of the faculty at the University of Phoenix in Southfi eld, Michigan, and Administrator of Prime Care Services. With her excellent background in the nursing fi eld, Brenda became a certifi ed Medicare Home Health Care and BCBS Authorized Provider. For about 10 years, she served as consultant to numerous home health care agencies in Michigan.

As a community organizer, Brenda Co-Founded the Far Eastern and American Nurses Association of Great Lakes. She served in executive offi cer positions at the Philippine Nurses Association of Michigan. In Kiwanis, Brenda also served in various capacities since 2010.

As a dedicated community volunteer, Brenda had joined the Medical/Surgical and Dental Missions in Davao City, Philippines in 2006, and served as a member of the Planning Committee for a medical mission in Dagupan City, Pangasinan.

Brenda is married to his loyal and loving husband Salvador Sanagustin. They have three sons: Gerard Patrick, Francis Martin and Ricmon Salvador. Their beautiful family is complete with their two grandchildren: Christina Marie, Christian Martin and Aliyah Voyce.
