The Mayuga Family-2015 Model Family Chicago Filipino Asian American Hall of Fame

The Mayuga family in the USA is composed of Doctors Ruperto (Rupert) and Amelita (Amy) Mayuga, their four children and their spouses and four grandchildren. Myttle Mayuga, MD, is married to Roger Davis. They have a daughter, Ainsley; Kenneth Mayuga, MD, is married to Mirna Ayache Mayuga, MD. They have a son, Alexander, and a daughter, Anna;. Aimee Mayuga, MD, is married to Jason Farrer, MD. They have a daughter,Aria. Rachel Mayuga, MHS, is married to Engr. Timothy Kim.

Rupert, a Cardiologist, and Amy, a Pediatrician, emigrated to the USA from the Philippines 34 years ago. Their careers are notable for their dedication to God, Family and Patients, as well as for their compassion and generosity to those in need. Rupert is a previous Hall of Fame awardee for Medicine and an awardee of the Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce. While yet in the Philippines, he was awarded the Most Outstanding Cardiology Fellow award by the Philippine Heart Association. An author, speaker, teacher and scientist, Rupert has received both national and international recognitions. Since 1987, Rupert has been on the faculty of the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University where he has received teaching and service awards.

Amy is a previous awardee and member of the Circle of Empowered Women from NAFFAA. She has also received recognition from Northwestern University as a “Mother of Distinction” after all four children graduated from NU. She was personally congratulated by President Barack Obama for her achievements. A leader and organizer, Amy is co-founder and past president of the Acaylar Organization and was a co- chairperson of the Sesquicentennial Celebration and fundraising event at her church. She has organized other events including the “Simbang Gabi” at the Saint Joseph Hospital chapel.

Together, Rupert and Amy founded the Mayuga Medical Practice and have touched the lives and nurtured the health of many patients for 22 years. They have also helped to finance the education of many children in many countries and of seminary students in the Philippines. They support the ministry of missionaries in the Philippines, Africa, the Middle East, Russia, Latin America and New Guinea.

Rupert and Amy love to read books, travel and engage in multiple hobbies and sports.
Despite all of these, Rupert and Amy consider their greatest achievement and legacy for the future to be their loving nurture, guidance, encouragement and support of their four children as they grew up.
Myttle is now an Interventional Cardiologist specializing in coronary and peripheral vascular stents, percutaneous heart valves and ventricular assist device implantation. Her husband, Roger, is an MBA and is a manager in a medical supply company. Kenneth is a Cardiologist / Electrophysiologist at the Cleveland Clinic, a well published author in medical journals and books and an authority on “Syncope”. He is also a medical school professor. His wife, Mirna, is an Internist, training further in Pulmonary Critical Care. She also has an MPH from Johns Hopkins. Aimee graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern and proceeded to the medical specialty of Rheumatology at the University of Chicago where she now treats patients with autoimmune and inflammatory diseases of the joints and other organs. Her husband, Jason, is an OB-Gyne Anesthesiologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He has received the “teacher of the year” award. Rachel finished her masters in Healthcare Administration and Finance at Johns Hopkins and is presently division administrator in the Women’s Health/OB-Gyne of Northwestern Healthcare. In addition to managing multiple medical clinics, she recently planned, opened and now oversees the most modern and advanced Fertility Clinic in the country. Her husband, Timothy, has a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern and acquired additional expertise in “electronic medical records” (EMR). He is presently a senior consultant with a firm that contracts out EMR expertise to hospitals around the country.
