Election Fever

For the first time, I have to exercise my right to vote! It was one exciting day to plan and arrange my schedules to fit my trip to the voting center. I have never thought I could pick my president of choice, but I did! Since it was a new experience for me, I was definitely anxious, yet a bit excited. The line to the voting facility was not long at all, and I was able to cast my vote quick and easy. As a young and emerging adult, I feel like there is a sense of accomplishment for the exercise to vote. There is nothing more satisfying than being able to walk with other adults, and exercise my civic duty, which is also reflective of good citizenship. Likewise, I hope my fellow young teens went to vote as well! Here are my four features for the month of November. If you’d like to be featured, please email me at tejerokayla@ gmail.com!

Daniel Fernandez says, “As a Filipino American college student, I am driven to do well academically, improve my leadership skills, and earn my degree in Law Enforcement. After graduation, I aim to serve and protect my community as a police officer. I am striving to be as successful as I can be so that I can provide my family the freedom and lifestyle they deserve.”

Tiffany Pongco says, “As a first generation Filipino- American college student, I want to finish my BSN degree. After finishing my degree at Aurora University, I plan to apply as a travel nurse and experience the medical field. Now living through a global pandemic, I realized how important health care workers are needed and I want to represent being a proud Filipino nurse.”

Isabella Pacheco says, “As a Filipino American college student, I hope to acquire internships and connections that will allow me to have a successful career as a buyer in the fashion industry post-graduation. Ultimately, I want to have a successful career so I can give back to my parents for all they have sacrificed for me to live the life I live. I feel extremely blessed being the first generation in my family to live and grow up in America, and I want to ensure that I work hard towards my dream career as a buyer for a major fashion corporation that will not only do well for me, but for my family here and in the Philippines as well!”

Justin Maglaque says, “As a Filipino American college student, I would like to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree, and work in a firm while working towards becoming a Licensed Architect. My dream is to create sustainable structures to help communities everywhere.”
