It sits like an orange jewel box in the center of Lakeshore East’s Village Market with walking access from either Randolph or Columbus Drive, close to all the Chicago attractions like Millennium Park, Navy Pier and the best Chicago hotels around. As you approach the building, you will notice a side café setting for outside dining, perfect for an “al fresco” summer experience, and inside, the modern, eclectic interior draws you and adds to the excitement of tasting what’s within. The term “Yum Cha” is defined in Wikipedia as a “southern Chinese style morning or afternoon tea which involves drinking Chinese tea and eating dim sum dishes (steamed, fried or baked sweets) where they are wheeled around in trolleys serving “yum cha” dishes.” In Cantonese, the term literally means “drink tea”. There were no wheeled trolleys inside Yum Cha, but different and exotic Chinese teas and dim sum dishes were aplenty!
