The Chicago’s Consulate General of the Philippines invited the Filipino-American community association leaders and partners of the Consulate to another evening of camaraderie on its 11th Community Meetup held on 16 September 2015 at the Consulate’s Kalayaan Hall, 122 S Michigan Avenue, Suite 1600, Chicago, IL 60603 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm.
Present was a Policy Analyst and Advocate who spoke about the latest investment laws for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the Philippines. There was also a book launching entitled “The State Department Boys: Philippine Diplomacy and Its American Heritage” by Marciano R. de Borja, Philippine Consul General to Agana,Guam.
The highlight of the program was Mr. Merlijn van Weerd, a Dutch citizen and founder of Mabuwaya Foundation in the Philippines. He is the recipient of the 20th Parker/Gentry award 2015 of the Field Museum for the exemplary contribution of the said foundation to the conservation of Philippine crocodile.
