Happy Fall, ya’ll! The weather is starting to change from the upper 70s-80s to the mid 60s. Hopefully, we will feel more fall weather and be able to engage in fall activities like going to the pumpkin patch, apple picking, and going to haunted houses! School is full in swing for these past few weeks, but it most certainly has been busy. For me, it feels so nice to be back to school, face-to-face and to have a set schedule and structure. I am sure many of us can relate. Personally, I have been swamped with pre-class readings, lab assignments, and attending clinical. Oh, how fast the time goes by! Switching to something more fun and exciting, I just celebrated the wedding of a couple who is very dear to me. I’d like to congratulate the newly wed couple, my Tita Donna and Tito Larry McBurney. Moreover, I would like to wish them many more years of love and happiness! Their love is truly inspirational! With that said, let us hear from our four featured college students! If you would like to be featured, please email me at tejerokayla@gmail.com.

Jannie Dejillo says, “Due to the pandemic last year, I had to spend my first year of college online and at home. It didn’t feel like college at all. Now that I get to live on campus this semester, I plan on joining some clubs and improving or learning networking skills. I also plan on learning more about my major so that I can have a better idea of what I want to do after graduation.”

James Agena says, “During my time here at Aurora University, I hope to build on not only my connections with other people but also build upon improving myself. May that be physically or mentally, I want to become a better version of myself. After graduation, I would like to help others doing my job to the best of my ability and show what Filipino Americans can be capable of.”

Galilee Montero says, “I aspire to become a Nephrologist in the medical field. While in school, I intend to focus on my academics to complete my undergraduate career with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. As a Filipina, I hope to also inspire other Filipinos in reaching their goals in life and to continue their education.”

Kristian Hernandez, “As a Filipino-American student I feel that it is a privilege to attend such an amazing school. The least I can do is work hard and get good grades. After graduation, I hope to become a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and work for a large accounting firm. I want to show my family that I did not waste my time and I became someone they could look up to.”
